Need help with oil hole under oil pan
« on: Jul 25, 2017, 01:30:53 PM »
When I got my assembled block back from the machine shop I can't remember what was suppose to be in this hole. I attached a picture. There was a brass plug in the hole that the machine shop put in but I took it out because it seemed to be blocking oil flow to the oil filter and oil pressure gauge spots. Does there need to be a tube off of that hole or can I leave it open like that?

I'm going to have to get home and look at a loose block before I can answer this.

I looked at another engine and it was plugged there as well. I just put the plug back in then put the pan on.

Why don't you just call the machine shop and ask them what the plug is for???????????????

oil galley plug. they came new with a steel plug and i have always used the old one back.
sometimes they can be a bear to remove so i would think they need to be pretty tight.
