Hello I have a 86 4runner and the top speed is around 70. Would this be a timing issue or something else?
Roughing it smoothly.. some people were born rich and good looking.. I was just born good looking

Have you ever had your injectors cleaned and replaced your fuel filter?  My '85 was like that when I first got her, did that and changed my world.   I'd still check the timing, the tune-up of the engine first.     :twocents:

That sounds about right........

That's about my max speed when my timing chain jumped 2 teeth and advanced the cam.

Do you have a bad rattle in the timing chain area?

Take the valve cover off and look for the existence (or non-existence) of the timing chain guides.

Mine will cruise at 80 or so without any issues besides the slight shake......
