87' single cab build.
« on: Jun 02, 2017, 08:18:42 AM »
In parts gathering mode:

The truck has a Dana 60 center and Toyota outers under it now . I won't be running that but I will take out the trunion eliminators, and 6 stud knuckles and I'll end up running a toy axle up front no hyrbrid crap.

I've got rcv 300m shafts

The rear is a narrowed Dana 60 4.88 gears and Detroit locker

It is already 3.4 swapped needs some motor work but it's getting close! Here is the truck the way it sits

Nothing wrong with the 60s. Quite a bit stronger than the toyotas. Is there a reason you would rather go with toyota?

Having to run custom splined axles seems like a pain.

The front was definitely a waste of a 60 running toyota outers. Should stay with the rear 60 though,  that will outlast a toyota rear.

Just a rear 60 cut down with toy outers... if someone wanted to hassle with custom shafts and carry the spares it would be a pretty tough front end.

Housing I picked up to throw all my guts in. 6 stud hy steer, trunion elimination, rcv 300m shafts, and I'm on the hunt for 4.88 gears.

Dana 60 Detroit locker with 5.13 gears... now I'm contemplating keeping the front toy/60 hybrid... thing is beefy and I'm pretty sure the Toyota 8" third will be the part that will constantly break!

I would keep the current set up. You would be downgrading and you might kick yourself later for it.

My thoughts exactly. I was also looking at foothill off-road and they make a drop in 35 spliNe alloy inner axle cut down for my rear toy/60 wich would work out perfect for the 35spline spool I've had sitting on my shelf for the last 2 years.

Still need to pick up my install kits... haven't really touched the truck since hunting season started wich that turns directly into fishing season. But did get the heads swapped out and the motor back in running order going to be getting a new cross over put together
