Little help on a starting price!
« on: Apr 17, 2017, 07:49:41 PM »
Considering selling my rig I just built and looking for some help on a starting price! I know what I would like to get and what I have into to it (I know I will never get what I have into it!) I have been trying to compare other rigs but it's hard to find one comparable!
1985 4 runner full custom
Been wheeled for a month! Just got back from Moab and put 250 miles on it ran 6 of the better known medium to difficult trails drove it down the highway to all the trails and dinner and sight seeing and it did great! This probably isn't a daily driver but it is fun as hell to drive around town and to close trails! So if I could get some ideas on what you guys would consider a good starting price that would be awesome and I can compare to what i am thinking!

None of the pics uploaded. Try photo bucket or get a tap talk account. It's easy to post from the app.

Nice looking build., unfortunately you can't get back whats invested in these rigs like our FJ40 and Jeep counterparts do.

For a baseline value, use the NADA value for your area in its stock condition, then add up the cost of the parts(not labor), any custom made parts like sliders or bumpers use their equivalent after market counterparts, material costs for custom built one off things, cut the total in half and add that to the stock value.  This will give you a starting point from there you will need to raise or lower its' price to fit the market you are trying to sell it in, and how quickly you want to sell it.

You will likely get a higher cash price by advertising it in the SF Bay Area, or recoup more of your investment through trading for something you want, or something you can sell with a wider a market.
