T100 5 speed swap!
« on: Apr 17, 2017, 11:00:00 AM »
I have a 97 t100 4wd with a automatic transmission. Tired of it and want a 5 speed. What years R150F do I need since I have a passenger side drop front diff and can I keep my transfercase that's currently on my automatic transmission?

the 5 speed from a t100 from 96-98 with the 3.4 will be direct fit obviously. the earlier 3.0 5 speed can work also but the shifter location is a little different and the bell housing is shorter, and I believe the clutch slave is on the opposite side but I am not certain.

trans would if you adapt to a passenger drop case that is. Tacoma was driver, t100 passenger like the older rigs.

Thank you so much everyone. So I need a 96-98 T100 R150f 5 speed. Now just one last question, can I bolt the transfer case that's on my automatic to the 5 speed? I know I have a passenger side drop tcase and don't want any adapters. Thanks

a 5spd from a 96-03ish tacoma/4runner will work too, youll just need a pass drop transfer case. check if a 88-95 3.0V6 transfer case will fit to a taco/4runner r150f. if so making that work would be easier. t100s arent plentiful

With that being said, I can get a 98 t100 R150f for $350 in town which is nice. I don't see why my current one won't work if they are both t100 transmissions you know? It would make sense if my current tcase is compatible with a auto and 5 speed. Would make me save money if I can keep my current one instead of having to buy one that works with a 98 t100 r150f
