..he told me that coolant isn't made the same way it used to be.
Is ANYTHING made the way it used to be?Gnarls.
Ice cubes?
as An alternative to coolant, you could go with Evans cooling. Ran it in my 67.
I have used Evans before. Expensive if used in large capacity applications, I use it in My banshee. Works great.Put it in and forget about it.
I liked the fact that is had almost a zero pressure. I could put piece of foil, where radiator cap would go. Less pressure, less problems. I have 2 gallons sitting on a shelf
I know the farmer I work for prefers 60/40 and Ehen I asked why he told me that coolant isn't made the same way it used to be.
water/antifreeze or antifreeze/water ?
Does anyone have an opinion on using zerex G-05? i'm running it in my 84 22r right now after blowing my radiator cap off last summer.
Gee... I don't recall hearing or reading that someone blew their radiator cap off. I would think that if your engine is heating up enough blow off a radiator cap, you'd know something is wrong before that. And, whatever coolant you would use most likely would not fix that kind of over-heating problem.Even straight undiluted tiger piss probably would not fix your over-heating issue. Gnarls.
Well it was the original cap, the rubber gasket on the cap was almost none-existent...
Oh my gawd!!! What happened to periodic maintenance? Gnarls.
No ones answered my question though, any opinions of the G-05??
It probably works just fine, but with it being a different color you likely shouldn't mix it, so if you are going to go through the process of flushing the system, you might as well and run Toyota Red.
Seen a rad cap on a Chevy do the same thing, the seal was gone and the spring was worn, which allowed it to rattle loose, than boom.Given Ford's and Chrysler's reliability, not sure I would want to run anything designed to run in their vehicles. I'm thinking of going with Evan's on the 22re I'm gonna be rebuilding soon
You have to completely flush any and all water from the system before you use Evans.
That's why I'm thinking of using it after the rebuild, everything will already be taken apart and cleaned out, easier to make sure the block is dry while it's out, so I'll just have to drain the radiator and blow all the water out of it and I'll be set
