Head gasket mod and findings while changing head
« on: Apr 05, 2005, 12:57:07 PM »
Anyone ever notice that on the 22r that 6 of the water jackets are plugged by the head gasket?  Why?

I drilled a 1/8" into the two jackets in the gasket between cylinder 2 and 3.

Also, I made a nice discovery, my oil has the exact same consistancy as pudding.  No dirt, grime, or metal.  It's not even sludge.  It feels just like pudding and will lay in mounds.  This JUST happened because I had the head off a little more than a month ago.  I poured a gallon of alcohol into the block to flush that garbage out.

What worries me the most is the fact that I can't find a crack on the head.  Granted we didn't pressure test it, and there's lots of places a crack can be.  Two of the exhaust valves were definitely exposed to water.  Crystalized white on the valve stem and rust starting on the actual valve.

She'll be running tonight.
