83 custom Xtracab
« on: Apr 04, 2005, 10:39:35 PM »
Okay, Im getting ready to start a project. I got an 82 toyota short bed. A while back on eather here or Pirate4x4 I saw a pic of the same gen toyota with a custom extra cab. It looked like they took another cab and cut it and mounted it to the other can and moved the bed back or had it part of the bed. It was really nice. If anyone knows what im talking about please help me find the pic.

I am going to do this to my rig starting in July. That's the only thing I hate about my truck: Not enough room in the cab.

I've already got an xtra cab, all I need to do is find another 1st gen cab and Im set.

If you start working on yours before I do, then be sure to post some pics!

Here is another one, not an extracab, but same type of issues...extra cab to runner instead...

Good Luck!   :beerchug:

Yeah, thats my 83 first gen xtra cab... Actually I just finished the body work last weekend! Its only taken me two years!!!! and now I even have a sale pending on it to 'Shibby24' of Pirate4x4! Just lost interest and need to get rid of it so I can get my garage back!

But heres some more current pictures. Its been raining the last couple days so I haven't had a chance to get a final overall picture!

I have three different project threads on three different sites on how I did this conversion:

http://bbs.off-road.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1100737

http://www.oregontrailjamboree.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141739

Overall it was a PITA!!!! and I would NEVER attempt it again..... Then again it is now a one of a kind vehicle and I did have fun doing 'some' of the work and a picture of it will be going on the "brag wall" of 4wheeling pictures I have at home!

go to wildyoats.com  there is a cool buildup on something like that there as well.  I dont think he has it anymore, but the build up still exists

here you go http://wildyoats.com/super_cab_modification.htm

Rick,
Been following it over on Pirate.  Nice choice of color!  The bedcage is trick, like the way you did that.
