Front CV location
« on: Aug 22, 2016, 05:46:44 AM »
Here is my question on CV location... does it need to bolt to the output flange on the Tcase or can it be bolted to the pinion flange?

History:
I had my front drive shaft built and I installed it on Saturday.  The pinion flange has slightly larger holes compared to the output flange on the Inch Worm Lefty.
That said, the flange bolt holes on the shaft end w/ CV only fit the pinion flange.  The other end has holes that fit the Tcase which has smaller bolt holes.

Will this be a problem?

Thanks.

I would drill out smaller holes, to the bigger 10mm driveline bolts, and run cv at the t case

Thanks for the reply.
I can drill out the TC flange which would then accept the CV end of the driveshaft but, the non-CV end of the shaft has the smaller holes while the flange on the high pinion 3rd has 2 different bolt patterns each able to accept the 10mm bolt.

Perhaps I need to have the guy install a different end on the shaft that has the larger holes?  I could drill them out also but it is smaller... I don't want to make it weaker than it appears to be.

Not sure what to do at this point.

Spoke to the driveline shop yesterday.
He tells me the smaller flange on the non-CV end will retain strength after I drill the holes larger, so I'll do that and drill the flange on the Tcase as well to accept the CV end.

Thanks.

I did purchase a larger set of grade 8 bolts & nuts today.  This issue will be resolved on Sunday.

Thanks for the replies.

I installed the drive shaft this morning.
I purchased a 27 spline blank from Cores West... drilled it to fit and bolted it all up.

Works awesome and nice to know the ARB locker functions as it should.
