Got arsed off with having only ten mins on a Sunday to work on the shed and decided I needed a complete road worthy truck in my life and one that was also in the same country!

So, a 1996 3rd gen, 164,000 miles factory solid axle, diesel :reg:, G58.

3" lift kit ordered
35's put by at works tyre suppliers
Set of steel 15x8's on a dead Surf in the field that are covered in Sheep :pokinit: to be fetched off and sent to the powder coater
Hoping to use some of the stockpile up...

while a total thread jack, are we talking about an 8 foot being full length? that is what I picture.....

or a mini truck, that has a 6 foot bed, and smaller configurations?

Nope, what you gain in cab length you lose in bed length

Lift kit is on the floor of the shop!
Barted for repairs to a jeep

Also pulled the dash and stuffed a new bluetooth, ipod, cd player in.

Stolen out of my Rav4..

Whilst it was all in bits i fitted a cup holder as they were not fitted to UK spec trucks.

Courtesy of the stock pile.

and last but not least
LED dash lamp conversion. Its blue.

Worked great, checked they worked and fited it back together, backed it out of the shop to find one side intermittently goes off then back on. Pissed off was an understatement. However i have some runner speaker pods to fit and a new hood release cable and a new idle adjustment cable and probably output leads fromt the head unit to fit so its all got to come apart again anyhow. Just didnt have time as i have to drive it to work in the morning
I get the feeling someone has been there before as a lot of the plastics have stripped threads.  :shake:
Never mind we persevere

This is the festering turd im going to use the wheels off and i keep stealing screws and trim and such off it..

Looks like it is about to grow roots. Maybe it will sprout a 2016 hilux in a few months.

Really interested in those but I kind of want to hear some feedback on them.  I think I'll buy a set of mud terrains next spring to add to the stable.  The Coopers are on my list of possibilities.

After driving one they go good, a lot nicer than the 05-15 models but the shape of the front end is terrible on the 2016's!

Do you mean the springs or the knuckle seals? Looks like they could both do with being replaced.

Weird, somethings you don't think about.
Fj60 and fj80 run cross over steering.
Even the newer hilux still run push pull.
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

This one is one of the last solid axles available.

Standard knuckle seal leak, the other side is worse.
Want to pick up some of them trail gear polyurethane ones. Will do full rebuild when i swap to ifs hubs
