60-series Land Cruiser Steering Arm replacement
« on: Apr 09, 2016, 08:31:00 AM »
I'm replacing the steering arm on the 60-series Land Cruiser.
The steering arms are holding upper knuckle bearing preload. My question is: do I need to change shims or can I just reuse the original shims from the old steering arm?
1974 FJ40 - 35s, 5", Snorkel, etc
2001 4Runner - 33s, 3.5", ARB, Snorkel, etc
2005 4Runner - 35s, 5.5", ARB, Snorkel, etc

you can reuse shims, shouldn't have a problem

Even when I installing new steering arm?
This would simplify the process...

yes, when I installed high steer arms on my truck, I made sure that I didn't mixed up shims, installed in exact same spot, had no issues. on another truck I pieced together parts to make a complete front axle, only on this axle did I need to "set-up" shims
