New Tranny Won't Shift
« on: Apr 03, 2016, 04:54:04 PM »
My new Marlin R151F won't shift. Unfortunately, I didn't think I needed to check it out of the box. It's now installed, and it's Sunday. The shifter doesn't go forwards, backwards, and only slightly left to right.

Anybody have any ideas where I can look to resolve this without waiting until tomorrow?

Man that sucks! I'd pull the shifter plate off and see what's going on in there.have you tried turning the flange back and forth? I guess that won't do anything if it's in neutral tho.

Ya, calling in the morning is on my list. Problem is I work for a living, it's timecard Monday, and I'm usually stupid busy after the weekend. Plus this truck is my daily driver. The forecast for tonight is 40*, which is going to suck in my open top FJ40. Guess I better dress warm.

I'm hoping it's an easy fix that won't require removal, or worse, reinstalling my old one.

Donedeal. Thanks to Lee and the boys at Marlin the offending shaft has been put into it's proper place. Now, back to the garage. I have work to do.

The transmission was shipped in reverse. Apparently something moved during transit. The solution was to remove the reverse light switch, and use a screwdriver to move something on the shaft towards the rear.

And what the heck are turtle points and why would I want them?

Just a fun thing on the board from what I've read. There's really no point to them. Glad to hear you go your tranny finally though

People can give you turtle points if they like you.

People can take turtle points if they don't

If you catch the turtle that sometimes floats around,  you'll either get a bunch of points or lose a bunch of points depending on if it was a good turtle or evil turtle.

+1  :turtle3: for you
