Looking to buy a completed rig. Have a kid on the way and need to upgrade from my current 2-seater rig. Looking for a well-built, street-legal, 84-89 4runner located in Norcal. Would like to drive from Sacramento to the trail and home. Budget between 7k-10k but could talk higher prices for the right rig.

Also interested in the older landcruisers too.

There's a guy selling his runner for 1300... I know you said the 1st gen is desired, but with the left over 6k-9k you could have an extremely well built, capable rig with the accouterments of the 2nd gen runner and the capabilities of a SAS... Just a thought...
1993 Standard cab chassis. 1989 Extended Cab. 22R-E BO .020, ENGNBLDR 261c cam, Doug Thorley Tri-Y header, Straight Pipe through a Flowmaster 40, ARB Rear Locker, York OBA with fabricated bracket.
Projects waiting in my shop: '83 Front Axle, TG Sliders, second tcase, NEW: XD 4.70 gears!

    • My build thread
Zippo is selling his 1st gen 4Runner. It is a meticulously built rig that we worked on building together over the last few years. He is looking to start a new FJ-40 project and is asking $10,000. Has a clean 5VZ swap, dual cases, and pretty much everything else. Here is a link to his build thread:
-1987 SR5 4runner, 1KZ-t turbo diesel with mech. pump
& custom 3" S.S. dump pipe, R-151f transmission, marlin dual ultimate transfer cases w/ triple shifter, SAS, 35's
-1984 SR5 Tercel 4wd wagon bone stock - given to my nephew
-1:10 scale RC 4wd crawler w/yota axles, R2 2 speed enclosed dig tranny and 1st gen 4Runner body by BigBird
-My front axle service write-up

Thanks for the thoughts but I'm not going to have much time to work on a truck so looking for something much more complete.

That's a good looking build but it looks as though Zippo is in Washington. Am I wrong? That wouldn't be the easiest acquisition. Hoping to find something closer to home and CA smogged.
