Okay so just use the lexus trans with the taco output. leave everything else the same and now you don't need that adapter. Correct?

Correct.   You will still need to cut the output shaft on the Lexus transmission and you will still need whatever adapter you would use on the back of your taco to get your gear driven transfer case.  Unless you are putting on big tires I'd just stick with the taco transfer case and then you won't need any adapters.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Can't get the videos to embed but here are a couple of short videos crawling "Double Whammy" at Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch.  unfortunately the camera angle doesn't shot the ledges and how steep the hill is.

Awesome build I'm about to do 1uzfe swap myself in a 79 4wd. The engine is out of a 96 LS400. Do you have any tips on the wiring? I will be using the w56 trans with it.

About my only suggestion is to NOT use a 96 or newer version of the engine..lol.    I believe 1996 was the year they switched over to ODBII Emissions and ECM is much more sensitive to any disruption in the system.    It may not care but I don't know.   Just get as much of the donor wiring as you can.
