High Pinion Question
« on: Jan 25, 2015, 11:20:16 AM »
Is it common for the high pinion third to have clearance issues with the solid axle housing and the adjuster rings? Does it just need to ground down to fit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dingman.

Yes it's common. Grind away! There are many threads on this, do a quick search. I believe either elockers and arbs have more trouble.

The grinding required is very minimal

I did the search and could only find that modifications were necessary.  Nothing specific as far as what was needed.  Maybe I have the wrong bearings since it seems like the are out further than before.  I can try and post a pic of what it is like.  Not sure this will work.

My adjuster rings are not flush like there were or are on my standard pinion third.

Like what daniresch said. Grind away! Looks like it's an aftermarket housing...that's typical for them, like Yukon housings or nitro. Just grind ur front housing a little to clear the adjusting wheels and away u go.

I agree with everyone else. I had to grind a bit on my housing to get it to fit also.
Time to go wheelin!
