Power Steering Line
« on: Jan 09, 2015, 06:34:58 PM »
I was replacing my power steering reservoir and after removing this bottom hose I noticed that without much effort I could remove the fitting in the picture. Im not familiar with these type of fittings but I know it shouldn't be easy to pull out. Can I just add a hose clamp and be good to go?

Yes a hose clamp should take care of it

If using a hose clamp, use a fuel injection hose clamp.

If using a hose clamp, use a fuel injection hose clamp.
Ill look into that. You think they are available in a large enough size? This is abut 1 1/8" on the outside.

The other option would be a new hose. I would imagine to get a replacement hose I would have to go to a hydraulic supply place, not autozone.

yes you can get a hose clamp large enough, they make hose clamps that are 6" in diameter, maybe larger

I'm aware that hose clamps are available in large sizes, but my question was specifically for the fuel injection hose clamps that were suggested by emsvitil. Since fuel injection lines are small I wasn't sure that the clamps would be available large enough.

Not sure how big the fuel injection clamps go.......

With the normal worm gear clamps, my worry was a stripped clamp or the hose going thru the slots in the clamp (oil soaked hoses tend to do that)

I'd also consider the OEM style Toyota clamps like this:

or OEM GM style

or crimp style (like used on CV boots, also PEX tubing (search pex clamp at homedepot)

I went to a local hydraulic supply and picked up a foot of parker push-lok hose for $3.50.
