Double cardan joint and drive shaft is fully broken down
current problem is finding replacement parts...
UJs are easy enough but the flange and ball socket  is proving quite elusive?
marlin should have complete rebuild kits for each shaft or section of at least  :sad2:

any ways point of this is where do you guys get your drive line parts from?
i need the flange (where the needle rollers go on mine is under size and pitted), ball pivot thing and UJs

I usually scrounge old driveshafts from wrecks and parts trucks, carefully take things apart and clean them up untill I come up with enough bits to rebuild it with fresh grease.  This worked pretty good on my 1980 front driveshaft.  You can just run u-joints in front without the double cardan too.

ok ive pulled the other front shaft apart to find its ball privet and flange is the same condition with not a single needle roller in there and the ball flopping around probably due to never being greased!

both flanges where the needle roller run is all pitted so looking for a new one

anyways here are a bunch of pics mostly taken for my own sake for when im out on the hunt for replacements

if anyone had bought that ball bit be awesome to get the part numbers apparently haynes workshop manual dosent have them

also you say about ditching the double cardan joint? how so? im assuming i need some aftermarket shaft or flange end?

ignore the 2wd comment at the top of the pic the page has both 2wd and 4wd shafts on it

Part # for the ball kit is either Precision # 613 or 614. Kit #613 is for 79-84 and kit #614 is for 85-95 if I remember correctly. As for the flange, Precision #624 might be what you need.

are these numbers something the parts shop should be able to follow?

I found the parts at Oreilly's last summer when I rebuilt mine, if there's no Oreilly's by where you live try rockforddriveline.com I bet they have everything you need too.

You'll have to machine the u joint holes i believe if I'm not mistakenly wrong.  As thats why marlin dont carry joints and parts for double cardan joints

If you are running dual cases, you do not need a DC.
