1985 4Runner Wiper Arm Replacement
« on: Feb 24, 2014, 01:02:45 PM »
I have only been able to find the following replacement part for wiper arms...

http://www.dormanproducts.com/gsearch.aspx?type=parttype&year=1985&make=Toyota&model=4Runner&parttype=Windshield%20Wiper%20Arms

Dorman is the only product I can find anywhere on-line.

They advertise..."Dorman is a leading supplier of original equipment dealer “exclusive” automotive replacement parts"

Anybody have experience with this product? Or this company in general?

I have used a lot of parts from them, they are fine for wiper arm replacements.

I contacted Dorman and they said they do not include the hardware (Machine Screws and Lock Washers) that go on the end of the bayonet to secure a blade to the arm.

I can't find any replacement hardware on the shelfs at any hardware store.  They all use the same bulk trays.

Anybody have a workaround that does not include 'tapping' a different size screw hole?

Can I convert my existing bayonet to a j-hook somehow?  The wipers I have slide in using a 'bayonet converter' provided with the blades, but they don't stay one without putting the screw on.  I have a blade from Sam's Club made by Peak.

I'm driving around with only one wiper and its getting ridiculous.

Any advice would help.  Anybody know about an idiot proof blade that will work.  Maybe it's just a garbage brand of wiper.  Who knows.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

M4 0.7Thread, 6mm length

$0.05 screw + $7.00 Shipping via Fastenal.

I just bought OE Blades from the dealer instead.

All that headache over a tiny screw  :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

I know I'm late on this but you should contact girlzlikemud2@yahoo.com ( http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=39620.0 ).

She has helped me on some small hard to find parts. The screws were cheap but the headache in finding them could have been saved.
