Help with possibly damaged high pinion elocker
« on: Mar 14, 2014, 06:39:29 PM »
Ok guys I'm needing some ideas on a land cruiser high pinion elocker front diff that I am wanting to buy for my truck. The vehichle was in a wreck in the front and the axle took a pretty good hit on the right (diff side) the guy text me today and told me that it ripped some of the studs out or broke them off these are the studs and nuts that hold the diff into the housing. This tells me that the diff was under some pretty extreme pressure when the axle/wheel made contact with whatever it hit. My guess is this probably has compromised the differential housing itself at the very least if not maybe the carrier or the splines where the axles slide into the diff. Does anybody think part or all of my suspicions might be right. The diff hasn't been pulled yet. Which I have to do plus drive close to 700 miles round trip for it. This part doesn't bother me to much. And I offered him 200.00 bucks on it. So just wondering if anybody thinks it's worth my time or should I pass on it. Thanks for any insight. Check out the pic look closely where the diff would be sealed to the housing and you can see how much gap is there now.

In my opinion it is worth pulling and taking a look at it. At the very least you could get a spare locker motor.
