bolt size needed
« on: May 15, 2002, 03:01:41 AM »
What would the bolt sizes be for a bellhousing to the tranny *(to bolt them up together)* for an R151F 5 speed turbo. I believe BigMike or maybe even Ron suggested 12x1.25 (length ???) But I just bought some *(12x1.25)* and the diameter is too big, they look like they'd work to bolt the bellhousing to the motor but they won't work to bolt the bellhousing to the tranny. Anyone help me out ?  :)

Thanks,
Brian "ROGUEDOGG" Ford

I took pictures and got the specs of the bolts that I thought you were after, but I was wrong. I thought you needed the 48mm studs for the crawl box and the 47mm t/case bolt.

For the bellhousing, there are two different bolts. One is has a 17mm bolt head and the other a 12mm bolt head. And there are the 12mm bolts and nuts that mount the starter on..

Which are ya'after?

I'm after the bolts that bolt the bellhousing to the transmission, and if the bolts that bolt up my starter currently won't work then I will need those sizes as well I guess. I was told my bolts (currently in the truck) that bolt the bellhousing to the motor will work with the new bellhousing *(correct ???)*

Thanks for all your help,

Yes, Im pretty sure that most of the bolts that you have can be used over again assuming you had an aluminum transmission belhousing before the R151F (such as a G or W series, not the cast iron L series).
