89 Yota Problems :(
« on: Oct 11, 2013, 08:47:24 PM »
Hello Everyone!

I Have a 22RE 89 Toyota Pickup 4x4 extended cab. It has 422,000 Miles on the Odom and 74,000 on the new motor. But lately I have been having some issues with it, and i am in need of some help. The block is new, but everything around it, is original. So it seems like Everything original is slowly going out. So here's whats going on;

At idle it has a small miss fire, and when giving it gas it seems to miss around 2,300 rpm when i'm not driving. Also when i'm driving on the free way or just cruising in general, it can stumble or (Jerking motion) pretty bad. And that'll happen at any rpm, which puzzles me. Some days are worse than others. Another problem iv'e been having is the idle jumping up and down. But like i said that only happens every now and then, like when i stop at a stop sign or at a red light. the last problem i have is that my throttle sticks.. I'm trying to figure these problems out before they gets worse, so if anybody can help, it would be much appreciated!!

Things iv'e done to try to fix these problems are;
i replaced the plugs, rotor, cap and wires. new idler barring, cleaned out my throttle body and intake manifold. cause they had 422,000 miles worth of carbon build up. New EGR system, Changed out all my hoses.

PLEASE HELP!!!

As far as the idle problem goes I would test your (IAC) Idle air control valve and (TPS) throttle position sensor. Start there and you might find that's the reason for the miss as well. If you don't know what they look like google each one and look at google images it shows a lot of different pics. Hope this helps. The only other thing I can think of is whoever built your motor has the timing off a tooth either crank to cam or on the distributor but it would prob run a lot worse if that was the case
