Dual Case Fluid Levels
« on: Feb 18, 2015, 09:05:36 PM »
So, it's been a while since I checked the level in my dual cases....and I can't remember the process for ensuring that the lube hasn't slipped into the rear and/or front case, however that works, as stated I can't remember.

IIRC, the last time I changed fluids, I drained out of the back case, and filled each from the respective shifter holes - can't remember the amount though.

I have dual case #113 (and it actually started as dual case #64, Marlin once joked that that's when he made them out of wood) - but some parts failed when the 4.70 gear set was installed, and Marlin pulled a rescue in Moab a few years ago and sent a new case.  TIA for helpful info.

I have an MC07 with a lefty behind it in my taco.  Due to the slope of the drive-line i cannot use the BIGMIKE method, when i dump fluid in it comes right out the "fill" holes on the rear case and the fill hole is between the front output and the case, so i cannot get a bottle in there.  So here's what i do: i pop the front case shifter off and dump in 2qts and let it sit for 10mins or so and put the shifter back on.  Anything over 2qts the crawler/tcase assembly vents it out.
2002 taco ext cab trd, 3.4 5spd.  255/58/16, OME 882s, all pro bumpers f/r, Inchworm front plate, crawler mounted with an mc07 XD to an inchworm lefty, marlin 4.7 gears, marlin 30spline output, RAD designs triple sticks.  Fj 80FF rear with a spartan locker.
