Tie rod failure causes
« on: Apr 04, 2013, 12:01:52 PM »
So my unfortunately not marlin crawler tie rod on the driver side knuckle has developed a large amount of play like 1/8 inch in less then a year all daily drove. Upon calling the company they said I probably set up my front axle wrong and the preload was to soft causing the tire to shake and damage the end. And that's a very common cause of the drive side one failing. Has anyone else ran across this? Also I need to replace it, will a marlin tie rod with fit another company's tie rod or drag link? Say a certain mass produced from china toyota company's.

I don't know about the fit on after market parts.
I would just replace the whole tie rod with a Marlins. Can't go wrong, they are tough, quality made and a good price.

If I could save 90 dollars I would rather just buy the end, I don't see why they won't a fit everyone uses standard fj threading I believe
