Anyone have a 5vz in a 1st gen?

My buddy is selling me his 1981 shortbed pickup.  it's got a blown motor, so I plan on swapping a new motor in it.  I love the 3rz, but I love the 5vz power even more.  I wondering if the 5vz fits under the hood without cutting the hood or without a body lift.  Anyone have a 5vz in a 1st gen?
