Fj40 Toybox Install - Output Shaft Question
« on: Nov 19, 2012, 02:56:57 PM »
Goodmorning

I am in the process of fitting a Marlin Crawler Toybox to my 1977 Toyota FJ40.

I have the standard 4 speed gearbox, and the transfer case that was standard for that model.

I purchased the whole Toybox setup, including a Twin Stick transfer case kit, second hand here in Australia, although the unit itself is brand new and never been fitted.

I was told the Toybox had been supplied to suit a 4 speed box, which it does on the input shaft side, however the output shaft in the Toybox does not match up to the spline on my transfer case and gears. The transfer has a finer spline, and the Toybox has the coarse spline.

So my question is, can I get a fine spline shaft and change out the one in the Toybox so that it will match up to my existing transfer case?

I am working on this build atm full time, 7 days a week, so need a solution to keep the project moving and achieve my completion date of 3 weeks.

Any assistance or advice is greatly appreciated.

Pics are available, however as a new member I have been directed to this section to post my question.

Many thanks.
