So I have a 85 extra cab and wanted to put a first gen 4runner body on it. Has anyone done this and have pictures?

Sawzall!!!!
a buddy of mine has an 85 chassis with an 81 body and a 92 22re and his "secondary backup wheeler" is a SAS 87 xtracab with an 86 4runner body. From what I'm told it wasn't too difficult but you definitely have to want to make it work or it'll ride worse than my 88 xtracab.

You can make it work. Start cutting and post pictures

The xtracab has a 116" wheelbase vs the 103 of a 4runner (same vintage)

People bob beds and fenders and everything in between. Cut the fenders to fit and make your own mounts. Front end components should be easy

Anything is possible but I have the same question I ask my Samurai friends that start putting Toyota parts on them, why not just buy a 4Runner and be done with it.

Because some people already have put tons of money into a rig they know they will never get back..and they don't want to go through the process of building another..when they have one right there on there property..

My question is..why do that anyway..? just make a ext cab walk through if you want a 4runner...buy a campershell..boom you got ext 4runner
83' Pickup "ShitBox" - more parts
92' Pickup "Doomed" - some parts

It's all parts if you've put tons of money into it, just take the parts and build the new rig with your old build parts. Then put the stock parts on the other rig and sell it. I have done this several times.
