What is the recommended method of installing a Marfield? Martack, use the inner axle outer clip, no clip.
Thanks

Martack

You can do this if you do it right, but there is to much bad
(incorrect-wrong measurements) info floating around that people were
causing other problems.
So this works if you do it correctly (need to ask Marlin for how to do this correctly),
but I'm not sure as to how a weld will stick to the Marfield, so I
don't suggest this.

use the inner axle outer clip

Yes, this is what we suggest. Follow factory specifications and always
use new clips. Make sure you use both clips (plugging into the race and
the one resting against the race). Of course the inner clip will have
to be a new one since they are designed to break when removed, but the
other clip does not have to be new, however we recommend replacing
both.

no clip

Don't do this. The inner axle might float into the carrier(!).

Thanks,

hey don't the martacks go on the inner axle shafts?? :conf: that's what i've read.i don't think you want to weld directly to the marfield,or how would disassemble it ???.what i read was that the tack welds are at the inner ends of the splines right were they end, that keeps the shafts from moving into the the third member. hope this sheds some light on the subject. 8)
