Smog Legal Headers or New Exhaust Mani?
« on: Nov 09, 2011, 11:45:18 AM »
I have an '86 4runner with a 22re and i need to know what to get for it. Either a new exhaust manifold or headers. The only thing is they have to be smog legal headers. Any comments are appreciated.

I have an 86 runner to and am in the process of putting it together. There's a few makers out there but hands down I think the LC engineering is worth it. That's what I ended up getting. Go to there site and look at street 4x4 kit.stainless, Ceramic coated, thick flange and the best part to me is carb# isn't a stupid decal. It is engraved pretty big on the flange where if you live in California like me is a must! Also other headers I've seen have the o2 sensor bung in one of the head tubes only reading one cylinder. LC puts the bung down after the collector. Awesome product I think as far as power not sure mine isn't running yet. Hope this helps

I had a Downey header on my old 2wd pickup loved it, and have a LC engineering on my current daily driver.  Great performance sound and fuel mileage.

By the way I have a 4x4 LC engineering Header for sale.  I just had it re-coated by turbo hot in Riverside CA.  Its smog legal fits '85-95 Toyota pickups / 4runners with the 22r / 22re engine.  LC wants $389, new I'm asking $325 obo comes with gaskets too.  I can ship if you want to pay shipping.  I'm located in Riverside CA.
