« on: Jun 30, 2013, 09:12:23 PM »
The check engine light is on in my moms 95 2wd tacoma (fed/can 2rz-fe) I took it to oriely's and they couldnt get there code reader to work so I took it to auto zone and they said its a obd I  system and they can only pull codes from obd II. so what the hell , all the info i can find says tacoma's are obd II ? The diagnostic plug has the e1 and te1 ports can I get the codes like a  22re by jumping the terminals? anyone know whats up?

95 was the first year that the obd2 system was being implemented. By 96 all manufacturers were required to use the obd2 system. So it basically means that some 95 vehicles had obd2 and some did not. It sounds like yours is one that does not. You will have to check codes by jumping the terminals just as you suggested.
