Swamp Lake Trail
« on: Jul 10, 2011, 12:56:41 AM »
Anyone up for Swamp Lake Trail run this July 16th and 17th? We have 3 trucks going so far...anyone willing is more than welcome to join. :eyebrow: We're leaving Merced about 8am and should get to Shaver gas station about 10-10:30. We plan to do couple small runs like Mirror and Strawberry then head out to Swamp for the night. The next day, we plan to head out to Coyote. Let me know if you're interested.

Moonlight Madness is on Bald that weekend also. You should see plenty of rigs in the area.
If I hit it just right, I might make it.

Have you double checked to see if the trails are openyet? the last I heard none of the trails are open yet. There was still a good amount of snow last weekend so trails that are priddy shadys will still have a good amount of snow not to mention all the tree's that might be down over the trails also. and swamp is usually one of the last ones to open. Just giving you a heads up.

Just took a look at Fresno 4wheel drives website and swamp wont be open till the 7/24 and it looks like the red lake area will open today according to their website.

Forest service guy told me august 1st.   but then again he was a government worker so  :dunno:

I know they opened Red, Mirror , and Coyote first, last year.  Swamp and the others will probably be opened a week or so after them.

Those trails are NOT going to be open until after August. Make some backup plans.

It would be cool if some of the clubs that are responsible for the local trails would put together a volunteer work day or days up there to help speed things up.  :welcome:  :driving: :beerchug:
Otherwise the way it is looking, the wheelin' season is only going to be 3 months long.

A question for some locals in the Shaver area. If I leave the Toyyota at home, where is a good place to camp with the dogs and travel trailer?

How big is the trailer? Everything but Courtright Res. and the trails are open.

Bald Mtn is open for the trailer and the toy, just gets a little old if you live close and go there a lot.

the fresno club is going into red trail the weekend of the 22ed there are about 40 trees to clear. and swamp coyote, etc will open around the begining of august. forest service says still too many snow drifts in the upper elevations. Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno, has several trail clean ups planned over the next few weeks. member #1164 said that...
If you would like to get involved, our meeting is at Yosemite Falls Cafe on Cedar between Ashlan and Dakota from 6:30- 9:00...get involved! and get Wheelen!
LETS HIT THE TRAILS!

Monk, going to your meeting won't work for me because I'm living in Bako now, but I will be up camping when you are working on Red. If more help is needed, count me in
