Easiest way to install EFI tank in 82 4WD
« on: Jan 23, 2005, 12:10:15 PM »
I trying to figure out the easiest way to put my 22RE in my 82 4WD.  The only problem I can think of is the gas tank/fuel system.  Is there any factory truck tanks that will almost bolt into my 82?  What is the easiest way to do this?  I don't really want to run an external pump.  Thanks

My friend put a 2wd 22re in his 80.  He used the 2wd fuel tank.  It bolted into one side of the stock tank mounts.  He made a mount for the other side.

As long as the tank isn't too long or too wide it should be pretty easy to fab up mounts,     Nate

I am pretty sure the tanks are the same width.  But the efi 2wd tank wasn't as long as the 80 4wd tank.

Thanks for the input guys, I wonder if there is a tank that is almost the same dimensions as my stock 82 shortbed 4WD tank.  It would be pretty easy to fab up some mounts on one side.  What year did that 2WD tank come out of?

There was a shortbed efi 2wd at PNP when I was there recently, I'll get the dimensions next time I'm there and let you know,     Nate

just use the tank that came with the efi stuff and just mount in up in the bed at the front behind the cab thats what i did and i loved it not being under the truck. never knew how much it helped till i got my 4runner and now the tank is all bashed in and only holds about half of what it should, and now im buying a fuel cell so i can 4 link it anyways so just mount it in the bed.
