4.7 GEARS IN FRONT OR REAR CASE ANF WHY?
« on: Apr 13, 2011, 11:09:22 AM »
Why is it recomended to put the 4.7 gears in the rear case. I have friends with the gears in the front case and no problems.  :help:

So you mean I need blinker fluid to finish the job.

The reason is because the output from the crawl box (in low range) has multiplied the torque going into the rear case.  If you have 2.28 gears in front, it's less torque being applied to the rear case input than when you have 4.7 gears in front.  Less torque on the rear input means less chance of breaking any of the rear case's components.

Gnasty82 is right. If the 4.7s are in the crawl box it will put to much torque to the 2.28 rear case. You would be more prone to braking output shafts.

Best Blinker fluid on the market. Works on all imports and domstics.  :moon:

GNasty 82 hit the nail on the head, you can twist a 2.28 shaft if it is in the rear. That reminds me I need to rotate my blinker fluid and change the winter air in my tires to summer air.
