« on: Mar 05, 2011, 09:53:50 AM »
So my buddy is putting his builtish 22r and his solid axle stuff from an '83 he just scrapped into a '91 extended cab with a bad engine he picked up for $200.

In 90 you could still buy a carbed model 22r, I do not know about the 91. Does he have to have it smogged?

OK here it is...  The truck is a '91 4WD, previously EFI.  He used a basic hot rod harness and some of the original harness, custom guages on a home fab plate that goes in the dash, etc...

He is going for as low a ride height as possible with hi steer.  4:88s and 32" tall 235/85 16 treadwright retreads.  With that gearing, tires and the weber it should haul ass pretty well.  Right now we need to ream out a standard drop pitman arm and flip it upside down so the rod end clears the leaf spring.

Here is a teaser pic:

Actually, its a 92.  I had to make my own harness, guages, etc. etc.  I will try to get it going in the build ups thread tomorrow to satisfy all your curious appetites.

No carbs in the 90's trucks stock OOPS.  they came as a stock option until 89 if I remember correctly.  My 92 will be about as far from stock as you can get when its done.....

I think I saw a '90 2WD in carb once but it may have been an '89...  This was back in about 1995 and I thought it was odd back then.

actualy the trucks produced in cannada came with carbs up till like 91 or 92 as an option, the others only came with carb option till 89.

Are those later carbs any different design than the 1st gen 22r stuff?
