Crawlbox for H150 or H151 Transmissions.
« on: Sep 23, 2010, 07:38:54 PM »
Well I am having a hard time finding any info on if there is a crawlbox option for these transmissions. The auto I have has very little options for gearing. And in order for me to get what I want out of it it's not cost effective. I would have to do a part time conversion and then one option is lower low range gears for around $1200. Or a range box for around $3000. So a manual swap to work with my 1HD-T is my best option however I am trying to find a crawl box to mate to these transmissions. Currently asking on mud but haven't gotten a response yet. These transmissions weren't available in the US or Canada to my knowledge. It would have been found in an 80 series Land Cruiser with a 1HD-T and obviously a manual one.

Thanks,
John

Any luck yet? You might have better luck on Pirate4x4, as there are some guys from Austrlia who are heavy into Cruisers. Look for a guy that goes by Z()LTAR or something like that.. Hopefully they can hook you up with the info your looking for. Let us know what you find
out.

Can't do it with those transmissions. But I can get a H55F out oh an HZJ73 and a 300mm clutch out of a Isuzu and run that comno behind my 1HD-T so I am currently on the look out for those parts. I will also have to get a flywheel from Australia from a manual 1HD-T but I will get this combo to work.

Probably won't be doing much to the cruisers till I finish getting all my parts and then doing the SAS on my Taco. But after that should be smooth Land Cruiser building ahead.

I doubt a H55 will keep on working behind a 1HD-T. If you compare the purchase of a fresh H55,plus Clutch plus fly with that :

than you probably change your mind.

I also doubt that the AA 4:1 is made to fit the HF2a tranfercase.

Guys are doing the swap for h55f behind the 1hdt so it should stand up. At least if you don't abuse it.

Also the h55f came from the factory behind the 12ht so I can't see why it wouldn't last behind a 1hdt

Many moons ago, I did this engine tranny combo into a fj60, held up very well, several years later still going strong.

Thanks Rob, that seals the deal on the swap. Now I just need to get going on this since my Tacoma is finally fixed and won't be taking all my money in repairs. No more front wheel bearings for it.
