« on: Jan 11, 2011, 01:29:41 PM »
i got a 1985 yota with auto trans, i was talking to friend and he was saying that auto have issue going up incline due to fact the having auto the fluid has to pump to the front of the case and there for if it dont pump your not going anywhere.......  he was trying to convince me to convert my yota to stick....

I like having auto and dont want to switch but is there anyway to fix that issue with pump? maybe add another or anyone got ideas??

I dont recall any pump issues with the A340's. My buddy had one in an 88 4-runner and it did fine at every angle. The only complaint I have heard with them is when you do lower t-case gears it will drive through the brakes so you have to pop it up into neutral to stop since there is no clutch to push.

I don't think that you can put an aftermarket cooler on it so it might cook while wheelin'. Look for a manual and drive it till it stops going

An aftermarket cooler shouldnt be a problem. There is a factory cooler usually on the inside of the passeger frame rail. Just unhook the lines and run your hoses off them up to an aftermarket cooler and your golden. There are a lot of people that run the autos and love them.

I've wheeled auto before and never had any problems...you should be just fine w/ cooler upgrade.
