w56 with a 1981 transfer case?
« on: Nov 29, 2010, 08:51:23 PM »
ok so i have a chance to get a w56 for a good deal but doesn't come with a t-case. well i have my original t-case from my 81, it's behind the original 4 speed. so will this transfer case bolt up or will i have to change the input on the t-case. is it a different spline count?

all the t-cases are the same for first and second gens excpet, top shifts, turbos, and 79-80 tcases. the input shafts are a little longer than l8r models, some cutting/grinding is done on the end to make it fit a w56 and other trannies, they made it shorter in 81. Just a design change  :blah:
