Preload and Backlash

My Haynes shops manual does not spec out the proper differential Bearing preload and backlash.

Does anyone have the actual ranges...???

For a 8" Diff Mini-truck

new bearing 16.5 - 22.6 in lbs
used bearing 7.8 - 11.3 in lbs
total preload 3.5 - 5.2 in lbs

backlash .005 - .007"

Then I realized you wanted Cruiser, so I looked and the spec are the same :bowdown:

A Toyota shop manual is invaluable. The are pricey for a book but the data is there. I have hated Haynes for many years now.

are they stock gears?

my richmond gears hade the back lash on the side of the ring gear it was different from stock.

1985 4runner on 35 boggers.  22re, W56 tranny, daul cases with 4:1 in the back case, ford f150 fronts with 63" chevys in the back, cross over steering, full width chevy axles with detroit back and ARB front,
