Tundra Transmissions
« on: Dec 12, 2004, 04:12:00 PM »
Is the tranny in a 2wd identical to the 4wd?  basically I am wondering if a tundra transfer case will bolt up to a 2wd tranny which means the tailshafts must be the same.  Thanks for any help

The guts of the tranny are the same, but the extension housing is different.

The output shaft on the 2wd is waay longer and has a slip fit output yoke. The 4wd is much shorter and has a 23 spline output shaft for the t/case coupler.

The extensition housing, shifter base and shift arm, and ouput shaft would need to be replaced.
