My Broken diff.
« on: Mar 22, 2010, 08:57:16 PM »

No cool story to tell here.  This let go on the highway, although I may have started the carnage on a recent trail run.

This used to be the R&P in my 4runner.  These were 4.56's in an eLocker diff, they were cryo treated and setup with a solid collar.  Mostly street driven since it was my DD but had some good trail runs using both lockers.  Had a little more than 20k miles when it let go on the highway.  It started as a little whine, then it suddenly let go and I had a major driveline vibration.

I already had it fixed, but I want your thoughts.  I am a little disappointed since this hit the wallet pretty hard.

From what I have been told..... If it didn't last 100k miles it wasn't set up right. Hard wheeling will also cause it. The first thing everyone told me was "Setup is key!"

What would cause the backlash to get tight all of a sudden?
