adapter for r150 to TC
« on: Jan 05, 2010, 02:11:19 PM »
Got a tacoma R150 mated to a gear drive case.  I had to pound the adapter coupler onto the tailshaft of the trans to get it on.  How do I get that thing off now that I have to replace the trans?   :dunno:

Or do I just need to get a new coupler from Marlin?

That's wierd.  Are you talking about the aluminum housing that holds the seal or the coupler that goes over the splined shaft?  When I got the adapter they told me to set the trans up on the bellhousing and beat that thing on with a 2lb sledge  :_order:, and they weren't joking, it didn't want to go on.

I guess I'll see when I pull the trans.  Hopefully it will just slide off like yours.

When I put mine on I had to beat it with a hammer. 12 years later when I had to take it off I remembered beating and thought this is going to be a real bummer it get off. It pulled right off. When I put it back on I had to beat it again.

Sounds like I might get lucky and have it slide right off.

Thanks all.
