gm to toyota help
« on: Aug 31, 2009, 08:04:44 PM »
thinking about buying a truck that has the 4.3, 460le motor and tranny set up, pretty sure the guy has the chain drive v6 t-case in it, how much trouble would it be to convert this to accept the 4cyl t-case, I did a search but nothing turned up.  Looked over on aa and they said they have no products for 460le to 23spline gear driven.

thats what i'm talking about, I did confirm today he does have the 6cyl t-case in there.  he said he used an aa kit, the only one listed for the 6cyl t-case is for the early model 460le.  This might make me sound like a complete idiot but....the adapter is designed to make the end of the 460le look like the end of the r150 so what if i bolt the marlin v6 t-case to 4 cyl t-case adapter to it????  The adapter should bolt up no problem but would the tranny output shaft be long enough.  Forgive me if I just made an ass of myself but I'm pretty new to this, just trying to figure out a way to run duals.  Because if it is an early model 460le the only kit they offer is for 21spline, and i'm just not going that route.

ON the AA website, select the GM 700R4 trans in their search engine for transfer case adapters. There is one for Toyota 21 spline and one for 23 spline. If you read the item description it will list that either adapter is for GM 4WD 700R4, EL60, EL60E transmissions. If your transmission was made after '96, then you also need another adapter. See:

http://advanceadapters.com/product/1736/50-5706.html

From the description "Late model 4L60E automatics will have a removable bell housing and a 6 bolt hex pattern rear case. The late model automatic will require an additional Advance Adapter to work with this kit."

I was unable to locate this extra adapter on AA's site but I believe it converts the 6-bolt output shaft of the trans to a 4-bolt.
Call AA and ask. Good luck.
