Add limited slip to 2wd SR5
« on: Oct 14, 2004, 10:07:04 AM »
I have a '92 2wd 4cyl SR5. I would like to change out to a limited slip rear end. Can this be done?

Yah, you could put in a locker if u so desire... anything with an axle or differential can be locked or limited, if theres an application that fits it

you bet it can be done!  in the aftermarket world, tractech makes the "true-trac" limited slip which is nice because it's totally gear driven -- no clutches to wear out

also, mark ii('82-85) supras have a 7.5" rear end that uses the same carrier as the 7.5" 2wd truck rear end, and some of these were available with limited slips from the factory.  good upgrade if you can find one cheaply

True on the supra limited slip, just thought I'd add info on how to figure out if it has one, since they don't all have them.  Look on the tag for the axle code, and if it ends in an odd number it has the limited slip, even # is open diff.  Also, f=7.5", g=8",  Nate
