auto to 5speed ecu question
« on: Jul 15, 2005, 07:45:09 AM »
I just swapped my old tired auto to a 5sp in my 92 4runner and everything seems to be woriking fine. It's running with the auto ecu, but i have a manual brain from a 91 i was going to swap. Upon further inspection it appears that the plugs are different. Does the ecu have to be the same year model?

Yeah I did one on my 91 pickup last summer it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. What do you want to know? I am still running the auto computer. I think the computer do have to be the same year but I am not sure..... ask some questions and I will do my best to answer them for ya.

how did you get the neutral start to work and do you have reverse lights?

To get the truck to start you just have to jump two wires on the harness plug that goes to the neutral safety switch, and yes I have reverse lights, one of the other smaller wires in the same harness (black w/red stripe) sends power to the reverse lights. I will post up pics on wednesday or thursday after all the ice melts off my truck.
