crossmember help
« on: Jun 14, 2009, 04:16:39 PM »
Am trying to figure out which crossember/skidplate combo to get? Am getting an headace trying to figure out which one is best and why.
I read alot already and there is no definite answer everyone thinks most of them are too rigid and could cause problems. Which i dont see how if installed correctly.

Am looking at budbuilts, frontrange, and 4xinnovantions but maybe not cause its tube and doesnt look as strong as the others.

The main problem is am switching over to a manual soon and need a new one anyhow unless my crossmember works which I doubt and it hangs too low anyhow.

Most clearance I could get would be nice. Its a 85x-cab

:disturbed:

also Do i just jack up the t-case and trans with a floor jack then cut the tunnel and weld new mounts on the frame to hold it all together to get a flat belly and nothing with the engine mounts

to flat belly you can 2" body lift or cut the tunnel.
Then use the FROR cross member, it will allow you to place the tranny where you want.

thanks for the pic and help. I will either go with FROR as he already said I should be able to use his, when I go manual, or use a budbuilt which seems out of date, I like the FROR one better looks stronger but other people disagree. Either I am sure I will be fine. :gap:
