previous owner welded some wierd crap on my p/u

check this out
why did the p/o weld the nut on the front spring hanger and then weld this 1/4 inch plate steel on?
im guessing to keep the spring from fallin off?
wth?  anyone else know of this?

judging by the fact it's been cut off, I'm guessing there is another on the drivers side which would have been from a tow bar.

the nut was welded to allow bolt removal without having to pull the nut.

that's what you get when the snow plow's been removed, or towbar but i'd prefer the plow, unsafe for towing...

so i can still take the front spring off with this crap on here?
im not lame, i just havent done any work on these springs ever and i cannot see being able to remove the spring unless i cut that $hite off
you cant see it well but the nut has been tacked to the bolt.

Why not torch the rest of that plate off and buy a new nut washer and bolt.

most cut the spring hangers off & install square tubing under the front crossmember & re-install the hangers for more lift. or buy marlins kit. anyway, if you had a torch in the area you could make the most use of it.
