Topic: 4.88 gears?

I would love to install 4.88 in my 85 4-runner im not sure where to start as far as obtaining them. right now i have 4.30's are they worth anything if i sell them, there isnt anythng wrong with them? anyways is it worth pulling 4.88's out of a donner vehicle and if so wich vehicles came with 4.88's? or should i spend the money on a new set up? sorry im full of questions thanks!!

Only the V6 was available with 4.88:1, the Turbo 4cyl were all 4.11:1. If the V6 had the "Offroad Package" featuring 33" tires (??), then then it would have the 4.88:1 diff gearing.

no toyota came stock with 33" tires

4.88s in the US are in trucks with a V6, automagic and 31" tire package(usually has chrome trim around the fenderwells).  they have an oddball third member, and only stock 4.88s from toyota can be used in these housings.

4.56s came in trucks with 31" tires and a 5 speed.
