Rotating 3rd member to switch rotation
« on: Feb 19, 2009, 11:11:12 PM »
Hey fellas, I'm new to the Toyota axles and starting off with a dumb question I'm sure but here it goes. I've parted out my big rig to build a single seat, rear engine,4 wheel steer buggy. Some where in the designing I screwed up my rotations.I need to know other than oiling of the pinion bearing, weather rotating the 3rd member to change my rotation will hold up?Rotating the 3rd will also allow me to keep the engine straight in the chassis because it will move the yoke outward of the center.Rotating the engine 180* is out of the question to fix the issue because the chassis would get to long.Shoot the idea down but I'd appreciate no flaming on my giant screw,up any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It took me 2 times of reading this to get your question, but all I have to say is good luck. This has me baffled. If you can pull it off then more power to ya.

Edit: Lemme get this straight. So you are going to have your t-case shifters in front and your transmission shift pattern will be reversed?
Bobbed 84 xtra cab, pickin up parts as I go.

If at first you do not succeed, put it in 4low and try again.

I think he needs to reverse the rotation because his engine will be in the rear making his drivetrain reversed :dunno:

I'm using a FWD engine,no t case. The shift pattern is the same after modifing the shifter.Yes the engine is facing straight backwards witch rotate everything.
