dual case questions
« on: Sep 09, 2004, 01:01:10 AM »
I recently purchased a dual case set up from you guys and had you put it together for me.

the custom short throw shifters were made to have the rear shifter offset towards the front and the front shifter off set towards the rear and come up side by side. this is working out great as far as positioning goes but there is contact with the shortthrow tranny shifter and the transfercase shifters.

also the cases seem extremely hard to shift through their range of motion and the front case will not shift sometimes at all.

any suggestions?

I lost my job mid project so I had to put everything on hold for a while and now that I am installing everything there are a few issues to work out. any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks John :help:

Both my cases and my trans shift smooth as silk.  There was no break in period or anything.  Something must be wrong internally or there is some inter ferance issues with the sheet metal, carpet, shift boot??  I had to trim my shift boot.  It kept popping out of 4lo.  This was due to having a body lift and the boot being all bunched up and tight.  I almost always have to push the clutch in to shift the cases.  They shift the best when rolling slow for me.  Hope some of these ideas help.

John,

Is this a billet unit (MC08) that we built for you?

Please reply.

it is a mc07 and you built both cases and put it together with 23 spline shafts also custom made some short throw off set shifter for me as well and you installed the tranny conversion plate as well on the front of the transfer cases for the r150 f transmission I have now

you made me a short throw shifter for the transmission as well

the problem with the shifters is when it is in second or forth  or reverse it is in contact with one of the two transfer case shifters.
they come up side by side but it seems the transmission shifter is tilted too far back.

but the hard shifting problem is still an issue as well it just doesn't want to shift sometimes in the front case unless the rear case in in two wheel drive high

any suggestions? or do you think this will get better with usage.

it just seems like it is bound up inside some times and the shifter won't move at all and then other times it works ok
