toyota Boxer prerunner
« on: Jul 01, 2012, 04:51:10 PM »
So I might start this Toyota prerunner project. I want to take out the 22re and put in something else! Please give me your engine swap suggestions. I've heard of 350 swaps, 4.3 v6 swaps. I also am thinking Subaru wrx Sti turbo swap. Let me know what you think and how much of a possibility this could be!

anything is possible with time and money

what are your goals for the vehicle?

A 3rz is an easy swap for the 22re or if you go with a 3.0 the 3.4 swap is fairly easy as well. Both those would be plenty of power for a Toyota especially if you add an LCE turbo or TRD supercharger. I have w59 2wd tranny with w56 bell housing and a full custom long travel suspension kit for sale in the for sale section. My truck was a prerunner before I straight axled it.

I want to stay away from v8 and stick with a 4 or maybe a 6 cylinder just because of the weight! I might know someone parting out a wrx boxer motor. or I might just want to put a turbo on the 22re.

If you are considering a Toy straight 6, the 7mge is good for about 190hp stock, or a bit over 200 w/intake and exhaust.  The 7mgte is about 220 in stock form, w/intercooler tubing/turbo elbow/3" exhaust work and a boost of about 12psi is good for about 300hp, w/a lexus V8 AFM/550 injectors/upgraded ct26 turbo(57trim) running about 14-16psi boost along w/intake/exhaust work should be good for around 400+.

A 2jz should be good for about 220, the 2jz twin turbo nis good for 300 stock and 400 w/just a chip change.

The 22r(e) trans work w/both 7mge and 2jzge, if you want to go turbo in either engine you should opt for the 2wd v6.

If you have the funds and want to smoke just about anything you come across on the street or in the dirt, I would opt for the 2jzgte, it would be a complete sleeper.
