85 22R
« on: May 18, 2008, 07:21:49 PM »
Hey guys, i'm lookin for a 22R from an 85 Pickup or 'Runner.

Needs to be carbureted, doesn't need to be working--just usable as a core.  I'm a college student, so if your lookin to just get one out of the yard, or get couple bucks, let me know. :yesnod:

Interested in picking it up which limits me to either So.Cal(Irvine Area) or Central Valley (Bakersfield to Fresno)

THanks
Aaron-

unless its had a motor transplant which you can confirm....i suspect there's a 20R under there, not 22R

Your right 83

:argue: I suspect your wrong though its a 22r unless at one time someone swaped it out with a 20r. But i dont think so.

I had a bone stock 85 Xtra Cab with a 22R in it. Traded the truck for a 87 SR5 Xtra Cab with 22R-TE. So, yes they did make 22R equipped trucks in 85.

Sorry, Thanks for the reply, but i'm looking for an 85' 22R...not an 83' 22R.

Thats cool though, i didn't know that they put 22R motors into 83' pickups stock.  Learn something new every day.  :)

83-84 came with 22r but the blocks are slightly shorter(not interchangeable with 85+).  85-95 22r (and 22re) blocks are all interchangable.

I know this because I kept ordering stuff for an 83(my truck was an 83), but some previous owner must have done an 85+ motor swap(just block and head)  so after trial and error I found out the engin blocks(mainly timing chain) and some heads are not interchangable.

I'll have to see if the 86 will suite.  22RE was for EFI, i don't have the EFI setup, so this engine could be right up my alley.  Rednckwheelr Where are you located?

If you are still looking for a motor, I've got one in San Diego for $150 including the head. I was told that the block blew a head gasket, and the owner bought a new crate motor from toyota. It's out of an 85 runner. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

k i read this add and got confused with what facst are what... heres some clerifacation

81-84 22r's are not the same motors as an 85-95 22r/re

85-95 22r/re's had flat topped pistons and taller deck heights

81-84 had domed pistons and different block hieghts

85-95 22(r) or an (re) motor will work for your application just swap your intake and exhaust onto the motor if you buy an efi motor and yours is a carbed everything will bolt up
rest in peace Effay

01 taco needs, duals, front axle, linked rear, exo...

85 extra cab/cab for sale with efi harness. no drivetrain, will sell, make offer
